Newquay is a beautiful holiday resort in its own right, with amongst other things, many sandy beaches, panoramic coastal walks, gardens, leisure park, zoo and swimming pools.

If you like horse riding, there are many stables locally for beach, river and country riding. Golfers also have many good courses to choose from.

 

Whit weekend the town buzzes with the run to the sun beetle car rally. throughout the summer there are gig races from the harbour across the bay.

 

July hosts the harbour sports day and 1900 week with carnival parades, dances and craft fairs culminating with a spectacular firework display.

 

Late July and the first two weeks of August sees Fistral beach hosting a number of surfing contests both national and international which in addition to great surfing, offer a surf village and entertainment on the beach usually skateboarding and BMX riding on half pipes and bands in the early evening.

 

New Year is also a great time to visit, locals and visitors dress up in fancy dress, it gets very busy and the atmosphere and vibes amongst the people is great.

 

The town attracts visitors both young and old, youths come to enjoy the surfing and the club scene. The more mature visitors come to enjoy the coastal and country walks, village pubs and a number of national trust houses which are in close proximity.

 

One of Newquays greatest assets however is its location, look at the map! It's very central, other places of interest to tourists such as looe, Polperro, St Ives and Lands End are all less than an hours drive away. And if you prefer to leave the car at home or don't drive, no problem! Newquay has its own train station and a multitude of coach and bus tours covering the whole county and large parts of Devon Indeed if you are an overseas resident it is quite possible you could fly directly to newquay as the town has its own airport.
